Even when young boys grow up into men, they are still big kids at heart; give them a train-set, a water pistol or a helium balloon and we know the end result before it has even happened - either we will loose them for half a day whilst they play with the train-set, we have a full on water fight on our hands or they are trying to make us laugh with their 'new' high pitch voice curtesy of the helium balloon.
And as they are destined to never 'grow up' it is nice for them (but mostly us) to let them have somewhere to escape to, where they can be forever young.
Here is our guide to The Ultimate Man Cave Decor that they will love, and you will love having in your home.
The Sofa Area
Yes, we know it is a 'man cave' but that doesn't mean it can't be comfortable and stylish for them at the same time.
We recommend picking a fairly neutral colour scheme of greens and greys and mix different textures and patters together for the ultimate comfort.
Here is our mood board inspiration for the sofa area:
We love the mix of greens and greys here which have been used in different designs across the cushions and throws to keep things interesting. With the addition of leaf patterns and stag head images, it keeps the masculinity in the room with the bonus of bringing a natural element into the decoration.
The walls of a man cave don't have to be bland and boring, they can add interest to the room and also bring the whole look and feel together. You can keep them quite neutral and bring in small splashes of colour here and there to add to the overall vibe of the room.

The wall art shown here is a lovely mix of nature inspired prints with a print ofLondon thrown in for good measure! You aren't restricted to just prints to go on your walls, you can use wall stickers, clocks, hanging plant pots and even hanging candle holders. Get creative when thinking of decorating the walls of your man cave, and stick with a theme to keep everything tied together nicely.
The floor area is an often forgotten area fo a man cave, but one which should have more attention paid to it!
By putting a well placed rug on the floor of a man cave can help to define areas of your room and also make it more warm and inviting.
Once you have decided where all your large furniture should go in your room, look towards the floor and define it with rugs; make sure your rug nicely fills the area so it either has a complete piece of furniture on top of it, or it borders the pieces of furniture nicely.

It is great to use a neutral rug if you are signing colours into your room elsewhere, which is why we have shown three gorgeous monochrome rugs here. And of course you aren't restricted to just rugs on your floor, you can use wicker baskets to help define the areas of your room - use these either with a gorgeous plant (to add more colour) or as a storage solution to keep their magazines, controllers or shoes in!
And why not add more seating with a round floor cushions too!
To ass to the masculinity of the room, it would be easy to think you could just ignore the lighting to create the masculine illusion! However, we think that the lighting can play lots of different roles; it helps create the right lighting for your eyes when watching tv or playing games and it can also create a homely atmosphere so people feel welcomed.
You can keep the masculinity of the room by the style of furniture and accessories, but the lighting is very important.

And of course, light doesn't have to come from a light bulb, it could be a quirky speech bubble light, where you can write different messages on, to an arrow light to add to the ambience.
If you want to leave an exposed light bulb effect, then why not select a stylish light bulb to create intrigue and add to the overall style design.
You can never have too much storage in a man cave.
