Elm & Blue decided to take a last minute get-away and we wanted to share some of the decor features, quirky surprises and hot tub adventures that we enjoyed, and you could too; Let us show you inside a treehouse villa in the forest.
Having decided (very) last minute to whisk the family away for a long weekend we were excited to book a villa with the added bonus of a hot tub on the balcony (this was certainly a selling point for us!). It wasn't just any villa, oh no, it was a treehouse villa in a forest setting with a lake and streams within walking and throwing (if you can throw further than me) distance.
Just what our family needed. And our young children love adventure holidays, so the setting was perfect in the heart of a forest in Cornwall; Deerpark - Forest Holidays.
On arrival into the forrest we stoped off at the ‘hub’ to pick up the keys to our villa and find out some activities we could book to keep the little ones happy; they have everything from archery to duck races, teddy bears picnics to bushcraft skills and everything in between!
You are able to park right outside your villa and most villas have some steps up to them, ours had two flights of stairs to climb before being greeted by our gated outside area with our own private hot tub.
Once inside the villa, it was split into two floors; on the ground floor there was a toilet and separate shower room, followed by a twin bedroom; this was just perfect for our two young boys.
And then the hall leads into the open plan living, dining and kitchen area with a beautiful vaulted ceiling and double height window.
The living room leads onto stairs that take you to the first floor with the master bedroom and ensuite shower room.
From the open plan living area was one large sliding door that leads onto the more-than-generous balcony space with seating and a bbq area.
There were lots of different villa styles available, sleeping anywhere from 2-10 guests; we were happy with enough room for the four of us!
The decor inside this treehouse villa was simple, clean, modern and functional; it felt very in keeping with the location and surrounding forest area.
Nature was certainly the main focal point within this property, with huge windows allowing lots of light and fantastic views across the treetops and beyond; your connection to nature was evident wherever you were in the villa; you could hear the local wildlife flying around and chirping away.
The hot tub was enjoyed by young and old alike, with its hidden location, out of sight from neighbours and surrounded by trees and nature it had a wonderfully calming, relaxing and grounding effect upon us all.
When you were out and about within the forest, you could enjoy the activities that were available or create your own adventure on forest walks and trails.
We enjoyed both the activities set out and having the freedom to wander along the meandering streams and lakes; climbing hidden pathways and letting our boys paddle through the streams.
We stumbled across a few painted stones before we actually picked them up to see that they had writing on the back, encouraging you to take picture and post it on social media before re-hiding it. And if you found a gold one, you could take it to the ‘hub’ for a prize!
Inside the ‘hub’ was a cosy lounge area, small shop for food and beverages, a bar and dining area.
This area was decorated beautifully and we certainly appreciated the use of bold and on-trend colours used throughout this space; from monochrome patterned cushions, to the mix of colourful chairs and eye catching paints on the walls.
We are in love with this gorgeous shade of blue!
Outside of this building was a lovely little play area for the kids to enjoy themselves and a wonderfully cute ‘bug hotel’.
Elm & Blue would highly recommend a visit to this lovely holiday retreat, it was the perfect mix of relaxation and activities to keep everyone happy and it will be somewhere our family will holiday once again.
Where have you holidayed to recently? Have you got any holiday plans coming up?
